Anderton circus skill days will unleash the entertainer within
27 July 2010
Families and visitors to the Anderton Boat Lift are being given a chance to unleash the entertainer lurking inside everyone at a series of circus skills days being staged throughout August.
‘Circusology’ is coming to town – offering families the chance to step up in the world as stilt walkers or try their hand at some nifty beanbag juggling.
Cheshire’s premier working heritage monument is hosting the free extravaganza every Wednesday in August – enabling families to make the most of the longest school holiday month.
Between 11am and 4pm on 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th August, families and visitors to Anderton Boat Lift can participate in a fun day of experimentation featuring plate spinning, ball juggling, stilt walking and uni-cycling.
Circus skills are both a performance art and a sport, providing interactive and fun activities.
Skills such as plate spinning and juggling with scarves, beanbags or balls improve hand-eye coordination, concentration, manipulation, throwing and catching skills, encompassing motor control and are excellent cross lateral exercises.
Boat Lift Manager Tim Turner said the expertly tutored skills on offer would make an unusual and entertaining day out for young and old alike, in the imposing surroundings of mighty Anderton Boat Lift.
“Everyone has an inner entertainer waiting to be set loose. Our ‘Circusology’ days will provide the ideal platform for people to realise their potential in a safe and fun environment,” said Tim.
